My advice would be to use the originals if possible. The '76-'77 carb set was one of the best put on the 650. Nice strong midrange because of Carb popping and idle problems. While idling the carbs will "pop" almost sounding like they are being whacked with a handle of a Troubleshooting and setting up the chokes on late BS38 Carbs from a 78-79 XS650.
